Terms of Service

The product

RecentBrief generates a sourced news briefing you can read or play. Email is a delivery option, not the product. Listening to an edition that already exists does not spend generation minutes. Shareable listen links let other people play that edition without an account.

Stories are researched from public web sources and then drafted with models. If we cannot cite a URL, that story does not ship. Briefings are not investment, legal, or medical advice. Coverage can be incomplete or wrong. You should open the sources.

Accounts

You sign in with Google through Clerk. You must provide accurate information and keep the Google account you use under your control. One person, one account unless we agree otherwise.

You must be at least 18 to register and to purchase. You are responsible for activity on your account, including listen links you share.

Plans, minutes, and schedule

Free includes a monthly allowance of generation minutes (currently 10). Plus and Pro increase that allowance (currently 60 and 180 minutes per 30-day usage window). Short, standard, and long editions consume about 2, 3, and 5 minutes respectively when they become ready. Landing or marketing editions we publish ourselves are not billed to you.

Paid Plus and Pro are prepaid for a month (30 days) or a year (365 days). Generation minutes still refresh on a 30-day usage window inside a yearly plan. There is no automatic card-on-file renewal in the product today: when the paid period ends you return to Free unless you buy again. Listening and your library remain available.

Plus and Pro may buy one-time top-up packs. Top-up minutes expire 90 days after purchase and cannot push your stored top-up balance above the cap we publish in the product (currently 180 minutes). Top-ups are a burst of extra generation, not a second plan, and they cost more per minute than Plus.

Some marketing pages mention future delivery pipes (for example chat apps). Unless a channel is enabled in your account, it is not part of what you paid for.

Payments

Prices are in Indian rupees, charged by Razorpay. Displayed yearly monthly-equivalent figures are rounded for the UI; you pay the yearly total shown at checkout. Taxes, if applicable, are included or added as shown at payment.

We may refuse or skip applying a purchase that would downgrade an active higher plan. Chargebacks or payment disputes filed in bad faith may result in suspension.

Refunds

Paid orders are generally non-refundable after they are used. A short, usage-based window is described on the Refunds page. That page is part of these terms. Statutory consumer rights in India that cannot be waived still apply.

Listen links and your content

You grant us a licence to host, process, generate, cache audio for, email, and stream your briefings so the product works. You retain whatever rights you have in prompts and preferences you submit.

A public listen link is anyone-with-the-URL. We are not responsible for who you send it to. Do not include information in custom interests or extra queries that you are not willing to have processed by our search, model, and speech providers.

Acceptable use

Do not probe or disrupt the service, scrape other users’ data, resell generated briefings as if they were a wire service we do not operate, generate illegal content, or use the product to spam. We may rate-limit public audio and suspend accounts that abuse generation, payments, or sharing.

Intellectual property

The RecentBrief name, site, and software are ours. Source articles remain those publishers’ property; we show citations so you can read them at the source. You may not copy the service or our marks except as the law allows.

Availability and changes

The service is provided as available. Models, search, speech, email, and payments depend on third parties and can fail. We may change plans, minute allowances, and features with notice on the site. If we discontinue a paid plan you already bought, we will let that prepaid period run or refund the unused portion at our choice.

Liability

To the extent Indian law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, or news you acted on. Our total liability for a claim relating to a paid period is capped at the amount you paid us for that order. This does not limit liability that the law says we cannot limit, including fraud.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Courts in India will have exclusive jurisdiction, except where a consumer-protection forum with mandatory local jurisdiction applies to you.
